No one wants to browse their way to a 404 page. But since some of your readers will end up on yours (you can check just how many by looking at your internal analytics), it’s worth putting in a bit of effort to make it engaging, clickable and even fun, rather than just a dead end.
I’ve seen a few roundups of 404 pages floating around lately. Mashable has two separate galleries you can browse through. And 10,000 words has a collection of media-specific 404s up.
What about Canada? Do you know of any local 404s that are worth featuring? Submit enough and I’ll make a gallery of them, too.
